Searching Weakley County Civil Dockets
Circuit and General Sessions cases live in the Weakley TnCIS form. Pick Civil, choose the likely court, and type a full party name. Add the year or case number if you know it. The fields work together, and too many wrong details can bury a real match. Search Help recommends full names and permits quoted phrases.
When the portal skips a court, call the clerk. Circuit Court Clerk, 731-364-3455, handles Circuit and General Sessions access. Chancery and probate belong to the Clerk & Master at 731-364-3454. Both offices keep weekday hours at the courthouse in Dresden. A narrow request should state the court, party or case style, and the case reference. Add a date range and the exact document. Include the copy type and how you want it delivered.
- Decide whether the matter belongs to Circuit, General Sessions, or Chancery.
- Search TnCIS only for Circuit or General Sessions and select Civil.
- Narrow the name with a year, court, or numeric case-number portion.
- Use the Clerk & Master directly for Chancery, probate, and estate files.
- Confirm the result and current copy charge with the record custodian.
Weakley Civil Records Follow the Court
Each Weakley County court plays a different role. General Sessions is a limited-jurisdiction trial court. Circuit Court takes civil matters within its jurisdiction and hears appeals from General Sessions and city courts. Chancery shares equity jurisdiction in many areas and carries its own distinct work with estates, guardianships, conservatorships, and other fiduciary matters.
| Court | Examples in Weakley County | First record route |
|---|---|---|
| General Sessions | Civil warrants, detainer, garnishment, bank levy | TnCIS or Circuit Court Clerk |
| Circuit | Contracts, torts, injury, property, appeals, civil rights | TnCIS or Circuit Court Clerk |
| Chancery | Equity, probate, estates, guardianships, conservatorships | Clerk & Master |
The court name decides who keeps the record, what the portal covers, and which fee schedule applies. That detail tells you more than a broad label such as "civil record" ever will.
Inside a Weakley County Civil Docket
Think of a civil docket as the event index for a case. It may point toward documents. An index line is not the pleading itself. It is not the exhibit or signed order either. The public columns in Weakley TnCIS appear only after one step. Complete the form's interactive Turnstile check first.
| Court and case type | Distinguishes Circuit or General Sessions and the civil category. |
|---|---|
| Case reference | Connects the docket to the clerk's file and may use a prior-system format. |
| Filing event | Logs a complaint, motion, response, order, judgment, or other public event. |
| Setting | Records a motion, hearing, conference, or trial date when publicly available. |
| Disposition | Identifies the recorded outcome; the signed judgment gives the controlling text. |
Ask for the specific underlying item when wording, signatures, certification, or finality matters.
Weakley TnCIS Has Clear Boundaries
The public form offers Party Name, Case Year, Case Number, Circuit Court, General Sessions, Criminal, and Civil. No Chancery, Juvenile, or municipal court filters appear. That is a coverage limit, not proof that another court has no record. Results can run to 2,500 rows. Each displayed page holds 25 rows with a literal text Filter.
An older reference fits the Party Name field too. For a formatted number like 99GS1-2023-CV-12345, portal help says to put the numeric part after the final hyphen in the Case Number field. Find Now stays disabled until you finish Turnstile. A no-result search may just mean a wrong court, year, spelling, legacy number, or protected record.
Civil Case Types on the Docket
The county fee schedule gives local examples without defining every claim. Circuit categories include contracts, torts, personal injury, property damage, malpractice, wrongful death, civil rights, workers' compensation, appeals, name changes, foreign judgments, support matters, and civil contempt. Chancery adds estates, boundary disputes, delinquent tax, guardianship, and conservatorship work.
- Contract, tort, injury, property, and malpractice cases may route to Circuit.
- Civil warrants, detainer, collection, garnishment, and levy work may begin in General Sessions.
- Appeals from General Sessions or city court may reach Circuit.
- Probate, estate, guardianship, and conservatorship records route to the Clerk & Master.
- Some family and equity matters may contain restricted documents even when a docket exists.
Never assume which court handles a Weakley County civil case from a party name alone; check the complaint, the summons, the case reference, or confirmation from the clerk.
Weakley Civil Fees Show the Difference
The official county fee schedule carries a 2026 update. General Sessions civil warrants, detinue warrants, civil summonses, and detainer warrants share one fee. All sit at $179.50. Ordinary copies run $0.50. A certified copy costs $5. None of these amounts is a universal total for every file or service.
The same schedule lists four Circuit filing categories. Their base amounts are $356.50, $279.50, $179.50, and $154.50. Service, counterclaims, subpoenas, fax filing, and other acts carry separate charges. These are filing and service schedules, not a promise about any single record request.
The official Weakley County fee page spells out each schedule in full.

Name the court and the service you want before the clerk quotes a total.
Civil Docket Settings and Hearings
A civil setting might be a motion. It might be a status conference, an evidentiary hearing, or a trial. Never assume a listed date is the trial date. The 27th Judicial District local rules govern motion days. Chancery and Circuit meet on the second and fourth Monday, as a general rule. Chancery sits at 9:00 a.m. Circuit runs at 9:00 a.m. or 1:00 p.m.
Those rules are a framework, not a live calendar. Motions are set by the judge or calendar clerk at counsel's request. The court may hear a matter by phone or without argument. Confirm any specific Weakley County setting with the clerk and the case docket. The full confirmation path is in Weakley County Court Dates.
Weakley Chancery Indexing Reaches Back
The Weakley County Clerk & Master keeps a computerized index of many Chancery books. The office aims to index all the way back to 1834. That depth makes the docket a real tool. It serves estate work and historical digging. Still, an index entry is not a download. A record may sit in TnCIS. It may sit at the counter or in storage.
Call ahead with the party, ward, or decedent name and a rough date. Ask whether that volume has been indexed and where the page itself lives. Older filings can take staff retrieval, extra time, or a different copy process. The clerk sets no county-wide turnaround promise.
Weakley Civil Age Data in Context
State numbers from the September 30, 2024 civil-age report cover Weakley Chancery. The court stands at 98.56 percent of cases under five years old. The rest, 1.44 percent, were five years or older. Circuit Civil came in at 100 percent under five years. Countywide, the two courts combined land at 98.79 percent under five years. Just 1.21 percent sit at least five years.
Age buckets only. They show how old the Weakley County civil docket is today, not how long a fresh case will take.
Civil Docket Access Rules
Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 34 opens court records to the public. A statute, rule, or court order must say otherwise. Sealed pleadings, protected addresses, Social Security numbers, confidential medical facts, juvenile identities, drafts, and internal judicial material can be withheld or redacted.
Request the public portion: If a civil file is partly confidential, ask the clerk whether a redacted docket, order, or filing can be released.
The Tennessee Public Records Act resource traces its authority to Title 10, Chapter 7, Part 5. Send any request straight to the office holding the file. If nothing comes back, ask why: wrong office, archived record, seal, exemption, index limit, or plain delay.
